It's Okay Blue Jays!

Woman owned brands inspired by Canada's team

In partnership with

Hello friend,

It was a wild October of baseball, wasn’t it? Whether you’re a lifelong Blue Jays fan like me, or you hopped on the bandwagon for the playoff run, by now, you may feel so drained it feels like you actually took the field with the team. What an emotional rollercoaster it was, down to the dramatic finish. Disappointing, for sure, but Canadians will long celebrate this team despite the outcome.

This issue is inspired by Canada’s team and our love of sport. Our feature interview is with a multi-disciplinary artist who brings feminine energy and racial awareness to her work about basketball; we feature a woman-owned craft brewery inspired by baseball, that owes it’s success to making beer for everyone (yes, women drink beer too); a jewellery founder who brings lessons learned from playing sports as a kid to her business; a yoga experience launched by two women that share more than a business; and a painter who has captured the symbol of Canada’s team with beauty and precision.

We give thanks to Money.com for sponsoring this week’s newsletter. And we’re thankful to you for joining us every Sunday morning. Let us know what you think of this week’s curation of stories by responding to the poll at the end of the newsletter.

Enjoy!

Mallory Tolcher blends her love of sport with art in thought-provoking installations that tell the stories of race and gender in the history of basketball. Find out why she uses jewellery in her latest work to expose a truth about the dress code in the NBA.

If you’ve been caught up in World Series mania, there’s a chance you’ve indulged in a beer or two. This woman-owned craft brewery was hatched from a love of baseball and a philosophy that women drink beer too.

Tennis anyone? Like so many successful women, the Founder of this jewellery brand grew up playing sports. She recently teamed up with our feature artist Mallory Tolcher on her installation about the dress code in the NBA. Did we mention she sells the most lovely tennis necklaces at accessible prices?

I don’t know about you, but as a die-hard Blue Jays fan, my body needs some deep breaths and mind-body connection after a harrowing October! Who better to turn to than two women founders who have such a deep partnership, their lives are completely intertwined.

When we stumbled on this little blue jay, he stole our hearts. When we found the artist who captured him, we discovered a menagerie of beautiful creatures painted with modern flair.

Myth: Pet insurance doesn’t cover everything

Many pet owners worry that insurance won’t cover everything, especially routine care or pre-existing conditions. While that’s true in many cases, most insurers now offer wellness add-ons for preventive care like vaccines, dental cleanings, and check-ups, giving you more complete coverage. View Money’s pet insurance list to find plans for as low as $10 a month.
