How to Wear Red on Canada Day

These Canadian woman-owned brands show how a little red goes a long way

Hello friend,

Canada Day is this week, and if you’re getting together with friends, you may be inclined to wear the colours of the flag. If you look ravishing in red, I say, go all-in with crimson head-to-toe! If you’re like me and red isn’t your best colour, you can still achieve a patriotic and sophisticated look with a white base and red accessories. I’ve chosen five woman-owned brands with some beautiful options.

It was such a good feeling to ship the Summer Discovery Box this week. If you ordered one, I can’t thank you enough! If you didn’t order but you’d like to see what’s inside, all will be revealed in next week’s issue. Stay tuned!

Now, let’s talk fashion with some exceptional Canadian woman-owned brands. I hope you are inspired to add a touch of red to your wardrobe, no matter what the occasion.

Happy Canada Day!

It’s summertime, and nothing sizzles like white. I’m obsessed with the Chiffon Wrap Blouse from Amanda Maria. Casual and cool with denim; elevated with white trousers; chic with a simple black skirt. The styling options with this beauty are endless. It’s a sophisticated blank slate to pair with red accessories.

I had a colleague who wore bold, red glasses. They were the punctuation mark of her great style. These retro shades from Rosa Rims reminded me of her. They are statement-making sunnies on their own. Add the beaded chain, and your glam factor goes through the roof!

Speaking of beads, I’ve had my eye on the Taine Necklace from Vimeria for some time. I love how the perfectly imperfect shape of the clasp, a signature of the brand, is meant to be shown off in front. Picture this and how it will pop with a white blouse and a red lip.

Wear it over your head like this, or picture it bandana style. Wear it simply around our neck and let the colour flow behind you as you walk. Or tie it to your handbag for a pop of colour. The All the Way scarf from Dora Nola is wearable art and your answer to effortless style.

Yes, you can wear a headband! Keep the rest of your accessories simple and let the Entwine Vintage Straw Headband from Heirloom Hats shine. Artfully handcrafted, the look is modern and vintage at once. Go bold, wear the headband!

The time has come for you to experience the brands selected for the inaugural Genuinely Stellar Discovery Box. If you haven’t received yours already, it’s on its way! I’m excited to get your feedback on the curation. My hope is that you discover brands that become perennial favourites that you will shop again and again!

Next week, I will reveal the items inside. While it’s too late to purchase the Summer Box (part of the fun is the element of surprise), I am putting the finishing touches on the Fall Box. The waitlist for that opens next week!
